Courses offered by NIELIT are as follows:

Course on Computer Concept (CCC)

This course is designed to aim at imparting a basic level IT Literacy programme for the common man. This programme has essentially been conceived with an idea of giving an opportunity to the common man to attain computer literacy thereby contributing to increased and speedy PC penetration in different walks of life. After completing the course the incumbent should be able to the use the computer for basic purposes of preparing his personnel/business letters, viewing information on internet (the web), receiving and sending mails, preparing his business presentations, preparing small databases etc.

Eligibility: irrespective of any educational qualifications.


Duration: The total duration of the course is 80 hours, The course could ideally be a two weeks intensive course.


Examination: Examination for the certificate course will be conducted by the NIELIT (formerly DOEACC Society) every Month.


Basic Computer Course (BCC)

In step with effort to achieve the objective of achieving computer literacy in an inclusive manner, NIELIT has launched a new programme, “Basic Computer Course (BCC)”. The objective of the course is to impart basic level computer appreciation programme with more emphasis on hands on training. The programme can equip a person to use the computers in day-to-day life for professional and personal use. After completing the course the incumbent will be computer literate and will be able to:

  • Acquire confidence in using computer techniques available to users;

  • Recognize the basic components of computers and terminology;

  • Understand data, information and file management;

  • Create documents using Word processor, Spreadsheet & Presentation Software;

  • Understand computer networks, Internet;

  • Browse the internet, content search, email and collaborate with peers;

  • Use e-Governance applications;

  • Use computer to improve existing skills and learn new skills.


Duration: Normally the BCC course duration is 36 hours

Eligibility: irrespective of any educational qualifications

Examination Date: Examination for this certificate course is conducted by NIELIT every Month.


‘O’ Level Course (Equivalent to Foundation level course)

The objective of the course is to enable a student to acquire the knowledge pertaining to fundamentals of Information Technology (IT Tools and Business Systems, Internet Technology and Web design, Programming and Problem Solving through ‘C’ Language, Application of .NET Technology, Introduction to Multimedia, Introduction to ICT Resources, a Practical and Project Work). In order to serve the IT industry better, the NIELIT ‘O’ Level course has been designed to develop the basic skills for the above.

Eligibility: Class 12/ Graduation/ ITI Certificate


Duration: 1 year after Class 12th and 6 months after Graduation and ITI certificate.

Registration Dates for Examination: January Exams – 30th June

July Exams – 31st December


‘A’ Level Course (Equivalent to Advanced Diploma in Computer Applications-PGDCA)

An ‘A’ Level qualifier is expected to be key member of a software development team with all round capabilities to manage and guide a software project. In order to develop these capabilities the ‘A’ level course has been so designed that a student acquires an in-depth knowledge of the key areas like the computer software, office automation products ,knowledge of developing a business system module using database packages, problem solving skills using programming languages, computer architecture, software development life cycle, data-structure, database management system, operating system, practical exposure to UNIX/LINUX and communication principles and computer networking, object oriented programming using C++/ Java, and multimedia application.

Eligibility: Graduation/ ‘O’ Level Course/ Recognized Polytechnic Engineering Diploma

Duration: One year

Registration Dates for Examination: January ExamsBy 31st July

July Exams – By 31st January

‘B’ LEVEL COURSE (Equivalent to MCA Level Course)

The objective of ‘B’ Level is to develop capability to analyze, develop and manage software project. The course has been designed to give the students sound background in computing, business functions and mathematics relevant to information technology. During the course, a student will learn Computer Programming Languages, Compilers, Software packages, database systems, Network Management & Information Security etc.

Eligibility: Graduate/ Level ‘A’/ Government recognized polytechnic engineering diploma after 10+2.

Duration: After ‘A‘Level One and half years and after Graduation Two and half years.

Registration Dates for Examination: January Exams – By 31st July

July Exams – By 31st January.

‘C’ LEVEL COURSE (Equivalent to M. Tech Level Course)

The objective of ‘C’ Level is to develop Project Managers/Consultants/System Specialists/R&D Scientists/Faculty who will be equipped with the knowledge and skills desired to perform the duties of the positions referred above. In order to develop the capabilities ,’C’ Level course has been designed to give the students a sound background in latest Technologies, Tools and Techniques in Computer Science and Engineering.

Eligibility: Graduate/ Level ‘B’/ Government recognized polytechnic engineering diploma after 10+2.

Duration: After ‘B’Level Two and half years and after Graduation Three and half years.

Registration Dates for Examination: January Exams – By 31st July

July Exams – By 31st January.
